At The Phoenix, we know that we’re not the first bar/eatery in Sydney to claim a unique twist on traditional foods and good drink, nor will we be the last. It almost seems that every other day, there’s a new style pop-up bistro or coffee house opening its doors, and that’s something not likely to change any time soon. What we can say, though, is that when you walk through The Phoenix’s doors, you’ll be greeted with a Mediterranean menu unlike any other in Sydney, alongside some of the tastiest, most refreshing drinks this side of Tom Cruise’s bar in ‘Cocktail’ (and we’re just as flash at concocting them, too).

Perfect for relaxing after a hard day at the office, or for a few beers with your mates, The Phoenix also looks after the hungry side of things – whether you’re after a tasty bite with your family or an intimate meal for two, your friends at The Phoenix have you covered.

1 Moncur street Woollahra 2025

A Woollahra wonder

You’ll find us out on the fringes of the eastern suburbs of Sydney, Woollahra. That’s just five kilometres from the Sydney CBD, so we’re only a short drive or scenic walk from the vibrant heart of of the city. The Phoenix itself is found on Moncur Street, in a beautiful, refurbished building that’s faithful to its old character, but modern in its futuristic approach.

We’ll say no more on what we’ve done with the old place, but rest assured, when you first pay us a visit, we’re pretty sure you’ll approve.

A Mediterranean menu with an Aussie twist

If there’s one thing we love at The Phoenix, it’s food. We’ve put together a menu that you won’t find at any other restaurant in Sydney, and that’s not something we say lightly. We’ve taken the classic Mediterranean dishes of our ancestral home, and combined them with hearty cooking style of the nation that we’ve long called home – good old Australia.

Just take one look at what our chefs can cook up for you – from light bites such as beef carpaccio, to a full-on crab angel hair (trust us, it’s delicious, and not actually hair), you’ll find something that you’ve never tried before, but are certain to order again. Vegetarians, fish fanatics, meat lovers … whatever your tastes, at The Phoenix, there’s no chance of going hungry – unless you just don’t like scrumptious Mediterranean cuisine cooked to perfection each and every time – so, we guess that’s no one.

Cocktails and dreams…

Don’t click away from our menu just yet – we haven’t even talked about our drinks. This is where The Phoenix really comes into its own – if you can find a quirkier, more varied selection anywhere else in Sydney, you’ll have done well.

Let’s start with our craft beers. From 4 Pines Hefeweizen through to Angry Man Pale Ale, our selection is sure to intrigue and delight in equal measure – and that’s even before you’ve tasted them. A little scared of trying something new? Don’t worry – we’ve still got the ever-popular Peroni and Corona behind the bar, as well as Greek legend, Mythos.
On the wine side of things, you’ll find an eclectic mix of reds, whites and roses, sourced from Greece, Australia, and even from our mates across the ditch in New Zealand.

However, The Phoenix’s cocktails are where we really shine. Remember when we said we could outdo Tom Cruise for sheer mixology mentalness? We bet the pint-sized Cruiser couldn’t come up with anything like the ‘I Carried A Watermelon’ (we’re big fans of ‘Dirty Dancing here, don’t judge) or the Fluffy Phoenix. How do they taste? You’ll have to pay us a visit to find out …

As you might have gathered, The Phoenix is one of the coolest places to eat in Sydney, and we’re getting more popular by the day. If you’ve got a special event coming up, or you’d like to book a quiet corner of The Phoenix for a cosy meal for two, get in touch with us and we’ll do our best to sort something out. Go on, come and say hello – we’d love to see you!
